Quick Back Relief
By mid-afternoon your lower back feels tight. Ten minutes of stretch and oil can loosen it.
At a Glance
For desk workers with dull back tightness. Ten minutes daily. You need a chair, floor space, and mustard oil.
Five Stretches
Do a seated spinal twist, twenty seconds each side, then a standing hip-flexor lunge, thirty seconds each side, finish with cat-cow on the floor.
Oil Massage
Warm a teaspoon of mustard oil in your palms. Rub on both sides of lower back, then glide upward strokes for two minutes, finish with thumb circles.
Traditional Note
Traditional Unani calls mustard oil heating, used in cold weather for dull stiffness. Ayurveda has a similar idea with sesame oil.
What It Won’t Fix
These moves help relax tight muscles and boost local blood flow, but they won’t fix disc or nerve problems.
Desk Setup
Keep feet flat, knees level, add a small lumbar cushion if needed, and set your screen at eye level.
When to Pause
If pain shoots down a leg, causes numbness, or started after a fall, see a doctor. Pregnant people skip deep twists.
Give It a Go
Set a 3 p.m. reminder and start with the seated twist and hip stretch. Add floor work and oil later.
