Dentures Care Basics
In this video you'll discover three simple daily steps to keep your dentures clean and comfortable, and learn the one habit that makes all the difference.
Clean Daily
After every meal, rinse your dentures under cool water, then brush every surface with a soft denture brush and a drop of mild hand soap. Skip regular toothpaste to avoid scratching the acrylic.
Nightly rest time
Your dentures should sit out of your mouth for six to eight hours each night, giving gums a chance to breathe.
Soak at Night
Place your dentures in cool water or a denture soak for at least six hours. A weak vinegar mix can lift stains, but never use hot water, bleach, or metal-contact cleaners.
When to see dentist
If a sore or patch doesn’t heal within two weeks, it’s time to see a dentist, even if it isn’t painful.
Fit & Sores
Clicking, food getting trapped, or needing more adhesive can signal a loose fit. Check your gums for red or white patches, and get a professional adjustment if needed.
Soft Food Start
Start with soft foods like khichdi, dal, and soups for the first few days. By week one to two, add soft roti, well-cooked veg, and minced meat. After a month, most foods are okay in small bites.
30-second night check
When you remove your dentures at night, shine a phone flashlight inside and scan the gums, tongue, and cheeks for any red, white, or raw spots. It takes just thirty seconds.
The one habit
The single habit that protects your mouth is to take your dentures out each night and let them soak in cool water for six to eight hours.
