Wedding Skin Prep

I'll walk you through a simple four-week plan that keeps your skin calm and camera-ready, and reveal the one rule you must follow right before the ceremony.

Why 4 weeks matters

Your skin sheds its outer layer roughly every month. By protecting that fresh layer with sunscreen and a gentle moisturiser, you’ll see dullness fade, flaky patches settle, and old spots calm down. Consistent care also reduces the chance of sudden flare-ups during late-night celebrations.

Weekly routine basics

Start four weeks before the big day. Every morning, apply at least two finger-lengths of SPF 30+ to face and neck. At night, follow with a plain moisturiser and avoid picking at spots. Avoid harsh scrubs; a gentle cleanser keeps the barrier intact for the upcoming weeks.

Groom skin care basics

Grooms have extra concerns: skin under the beard, razor burn, and dandruff. Use the same mild face wash on the beard, rinse well, and apply a plain moisturiser beneath the hair. Shave after a warm shower, with the grain, using a fresh blade to keep irritation low.

Patch test guide

Any new product, mehndi, bleach, or makeup needs a patch test at least 48 hours before the event. Pick a coin-size spot, apply a pea-size amount, leave it dry and uncovered, and watch for any reaction. If it reddens, stop and seek advice.

The best-looking skin at a wedding usually belongs to the person who slept.

The one rule to follow

The single most important rule: stop adding anything new in the last 48 hours. Stick to your sunscreen and moisturiser, get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, and let your skin recover naturally. Your skin will thank you with a smoother, more even glow on the dance floor.
