Beat Text Neck
Learn a quick daily routine that eases neck strain, and stay for the one habit that changes everything.
Phone & Neck
An adult head weighs four to five kilograms. When you tip it forward over a lap screen for hours, the neck muscles act like a bucket-hand, pulling on the skull and causing a behind-the-eyes headache by evening.
Four Simple Moves
First, chin tucks: sit back against a wall, lightly touching the back of your head, and draw your chin straight in for two minutes. Next, shoulder-blade squeezes: elbows at ninety degrees, palms forward, squeeze the blades together for two minutes.
Core Moves Part 2
Then, doorway chest stretch: stand in a doorway, forearms on the frame, elbows just below shoulder height, step forward to feel a stretch across the chest for two minutes. Finally, neck side stretch: sit, anchor one hand, tip the opposite ear toward the shoulder, hold for two minutes each side.
Routine Length
All four moves together take about ten minutes each day, and you’ll notice looser necks in a week and clear improvement by week four.
Phone Height Rule
Now the phone-height rule: keep the screen at chest level or higher, elbow tucked close to your ribs so the arm doesn’t tire, and every twenty minutes do a quick chin tuck and glance at a far wall to give your eyes a break.
The one phone rule
The single habit that makes the biggest difference is the phone-height rule: hold your device at eye level, keep the elbow close, and remember to reset every twenty minutes with a chin tuck and far-wall glance.
