Sabja, Chia & Alsi Drink

In this quick guide you'll learn how a simple seed water works and why the real benefit is feeling full, not burning belly fat.

Fiber per glass

A single glass supplies roughly three to four grams of fiber, about one-eighth of an adult’s daily goal.

Omega-3 ALA

It also delivers about one and a half grams of plant-based omega-3 ALA, covering most of a woman’s daily need.

What each seed does

Sabja, also called tukh malanga, expands into grey jelly in fifteen minutes, giving soluble fiber. Chia swells slower, soaking water and packing fiber. Ground flaxseed (alsi) brings extra ALA and a little thickening.

Myth busted

The drink won’t melt belly fat. Weight loss still needs a calorie deficit. The gel slows stomach emptying, so you may feel fuller and eat a bit less, but it adds about fifty calories.

How to make safely

Combine one teaspoon each of sabja and chia in three hundred milliliters of room-temperature water. Stir, wait two minutes, stir again, then let sit at least thirty minutes until fully swollen. Just before sipping, stir in a teaspoon of freshly ground flaxseed. Use enough water so the gel stays drinkable.

Who should be careful

Never eat dry seeds; they can expand in the throat and cause choking. Kids under five need fully soaked seeds in small amounts. If you have swallowing difficulties, a narrowed esophagus, or take thyroid pills, blood thinners, or diabetes meds, check with a doctor first.

The one takeaway

The real benefit of this drink is a modest boost in fullness from about three grams of fiber and one and a half grams of omega-3, not a magic fat-burner. Soak the seeds well and enjoy the gentle satiety.
