Quick NAFDAC Check

Stay tuned to learn the one key step that proves a vitamin pack is truly registered.

What the NAFDAC number means

The NAFDAC registration number is just a reference. It tells you which record to look up, but it isn’t proof the pack is genuine.

Where to search

Head to NAFDAC’s Greenbook, Nigeria’s registered product database. You can search by product name, active ingredients, the registration number, applicant name or approval date, and filter by category.

Step-by-step check

First, copy the registration number exactly as printed, slashes and all. Then write down the product name, active ingredients, maker name and address. Search the Greenbook by the number, then again by the product name to compare.

Label must have

NAFDAC’s guidance says a pack should show a registration number, production or expiry date, batch number, a physical manufacturer address and an English translation if needed. An intact seal is also required. If any of these are missing, skip the product.

At the counter

Before you pay, snap a photo of the registration number, maker address and expiry date. If you have signal, run the Greenbook search right there so you don’t have to rely on memory later.

Matching isn’t enough

A copied number isn’t enough. Make sure the product name spelling, maker name and address all match the Greenbook entry. Any mismatch means the pack is unverified, report it to NAFDAC.

The one thing to confirm

The single most reliable check is confirming that the manufacturer’s physical address on the pack matches the address listed in the Greenbook entry. If it lines up, you’ve got a verified product.
