Learn how to get trustworthy waist, weight and height numbers at home, stay till the end for the single habit that makes all the difference.

Measure Waist Correctly

Place a soft tape at the midpoint between your lowest rib and the top of your hip bone, breathe out normally, and pull it snug but not digging. Do it on bare skin, no belt, no clothing. This gives a true waist measurement.

Weigh Consistently

Step on the scale first thing in the morning after the bathroom, before any food or drink. Wear the same light nightclothes each time, or none at all. Use the same hard floor and the same scale, so the number reflects real change.

Measure Height

Stand straight against a wall with your heels touching it, remove shoes and any headwear. Place a flat book on your head, press gently, and note where it meets the wall. Look straight ahead, chin level, and mark the spot.

Common Mistakes

Measuring over clothes or at the belt can add two to five centimeters. Pulling your stomach in shrinks the reading by three to six centimeters. Weighing at night or after a meal can make the scale show one to two kilograms heavier.

Monthly tracking card

Keep a small index card in your bathroom. Every first Sunday of the month, write down your weight, waist, and a quick note on how your clothes fit. This simple log shows the direction over months.

The one habit to keep

The secret is consistency. Measure your waist, weight and height at the same time, same place, same clothes, and compare weekly averages. When you do that, the numbers stop lying and guide you forward.
