Ramadan Workout Overview

Stay till the end for the one simple rule that keeps your Ramadan workout safe after Iftar.

Frequency & Timing

Do three short sessions a week, each about twenty minutes. Begin them an hour to an hour and a half after you break the fast, once you’ve had some food and water.

Each session lasts

Every workout is kept to twenty minutes, including a brief warm-up and cool-down.

Talk test

Use your voice to gauge effort. If you can talk in full sentences you’re in the easy zone. Short sentences mean you’re right for Ramadan. If you’re only gasping, slow down.

Bodyweight strength

Start with a three-minute warm-up, march in place, arm circles, hip circles. Then do chair squats, eight to ten reps, followed by wall or knee push-ups, six to ten reps, and finish with a glute bridge, ten reps, pausing at the top.

Brisk walk

Walk for five minutes at an easy pace, then pick up speed for ten minutes until you can still speak in short sentences, and finish with another five minutes of easy walking to cool down.

Stretch & mobility

End with floor-based stretches: move through cat-cow and child pose, then stretch hip flexors and hamstrings, and finish with gentle shoulder and neck rolls.

Two sips and a stop

Before you start, set a glass of water and a small snack nearby. Take two sips after each exercise. If you feel light-headed or your vision blurs, stop, sit, and drink slowly.

The one rule to remember

The single rule that keeps every Ramadan workout safe is the two-sips-and-a-stop rule: keep water and a tiny snack within reach, sip twice between moves, and pause immediately if you feel dizzy or unwell.
