Khamira Gaozaban: Cost vs Benefit

In this video we’ll walk through the four Khamira Gaozaban jars, explain what makes the pricier ones cost more, and reveal which one actually matters for you.

Names and price ladder

All four jars contain the same borage leaf in a sweet base. The plain version is called sada. Add ambergris and it becomes ambari. Add gem powders, pearl and metal leaf and you get ambari jawahar wala. The most elaborate adds two extra roots and is called ambari jadwar ood saleeb wala.

Why cost rises

Ambergris comes from whale gut and can fetch jewelry-like prices. Manufacturers then grind real pearl, cut gems, saffron and gold leaf into the paste. Once mixed, you can’t see or taste these extras, so you’re paying for something you can’t verify.

Traditional uses

In classical Unani medicine, the plain sada is given for mild nervousness. The ambari is reserved for a fluttering heart or weakness, while the jadwar version is aimed at brain and nerve weakness. These are traditional guidelines, not proven effects.

Sugar proportion

The label often shows about 60 grams of sugar per 100 grams of product, meaning more than half of each spoonful is just sugar.

Label check tips

When you pick a jar, turn it over and note the DRAP or AYUSH licence number. Verify the full name lists the added ingredients. Choose a batch with at least six months before expiry and check that sugar or honey makes up over half the weight.

Verdict

If you just want a traditional sweet and you’re not diabetic, the plain sada gives you the herb and the ritual. The pricier jars add cost you can’t verify and have no proven benefit, so skip them unless a qualified practitioner advises otherwise.

The one simple rule

The bottom line is simple: pick the plain sada unless a trusted healthcare professional tells you a specific reason to use the expensive versions.
