Warm Knee Comforts

Today we’ll show you quick, warm knee comforts you can make at home, and the key tip you’ll hear at the end.

Why warm wraps help

Heat relaxes the tight muscles around a stiff knee, and the moisture eases the ache for an hour or two. It never reaches deep cartilage, so think of it as comfort, not cure.

Ajwain amount

Three tablespoons of ajwain are dry-roasted for a few minutes, then packed into a cotton bundle that holds heat for the whole session and releases a soothing thyme-like aroma.

Ajwain potli recipe

Cut a clean cotton square about twenty-five centimeters, roast the ajwain for three to four minutes until it smells sharp, then fill the cloth, tie the corners tightly into a lemon-size bundle, and press it on your wrist for half a minute to test comfort.

Onion poultice

Chop one medium onion, warm it in a pan with a teaspoon of mustard oil for three to four minutes until soft, spread the mixture on a cotton square, test on your wrist for thirty seconds, then place it over the front of the knee.

Castor oil pack

Fold four layers of cotton flannel about twenty by twenty-five centimeters, pour three to four tablespoons of castor oil until damp, warm on a plate for ten minutes, test on wrist, then wrap knee with cling film and towel, leg raised.

Wrap time

Most of these warm treatments are applied for fifteen to twenty minutes, then removed to check the skin. This duration gives comfort without risking deep tissue damage.

Winter knee routine

Start with an eight-minute warm oil massage of thigh and calf, then place the ajwain potli on the knee for fifteen minutes. While warm, do ten straight-leg raises holding five seconds, and ten toe lifts seated. Finish with leg raised and a gentle stretch.

The one tip to avoid burns

Always test the heat on your inner wrist for thirty seconds, keep the wrap moving for the first minute, and lift it after five minutes to check skin colour, pink is safe, white or shiny means stop.
