7-Day Fibre Reset

In the next seven days you’ll add a little more fibre each day, keep the gas at bay, and feel lighter, stay till the end for the key water tip.

Why fibre makes gas

Fibre is the part of plant foods your gut can’t digest, so it arrives in the large bowel intact. There the resident bacteria break it down and release gas as a by-product. A little gas means the system is working, but too much can feel uncomfortable.

Water to add daily

Add three extra glasses, about 750 ml, each day, especially in summer heat, to let fibre move smoothly through your system.

Days 1-3: Easy swaps

Day one is just water, three extra glasses. Day two, replace half the white flour in your roti with whole wheat atta, keeping the texture familiar. Day three, add a full katori, about 150 g, of cooked vegetables to each main meal, skins on where possible.

Days 4-6: Pulses & fruit

Day four, a katori of moong or masoor dal adds protein and a few grams of fibre without heaviness. Day five, snack on a whole fruit, guava, apple, pear or orange, skin included for extra fibre. Day six, enjoy a modest half-katori of boiled kala chana, pre-soaked and soft.

Veg portion size

Aim for about 150 g of cooked vegetables per meal, a full katori, to boost fibre without overwhelming your gut.

The one habit to keep

The real secret is staying hydrated. If your urine is a pale straw colour by the afternoon, you’ve matched water to the fibre you added, and the gas stays gentle rather than bloating.
